The City of Glasgow Bank Blank Cheque

The City of Glasgow Bank based at 21 Glassford Street, Glasgow went in to liquidation in October 1878. An unused cheque from the Agent in Partick, Glasgow. Scores of Glasgow businesses failed as a result of the bankruptcy. The directors were arrested. They were tried at the High Court in Edinburgh in January 1879. All were found guilty and sentenced to terms of imprisonment. Property of Robert Pool
