Discovered by Border shepherd in 1864This extraordinary collection of bronze objects, believed to be harness rings and cart mountings, was discovered hidden under a large stone at Horsehope Craig in Peeblesshire by a shepherd in the 1860s. The twenty eight pieces date from the 6th and 7th centuries BC and are closely linked to similar finds associated with the great ritual cart burials of powerful tribal chiefs in Germany and Central Europe.
