Modern Teddy bear

Contributed by The Manchester Museum

Modern teddy bear, answers to name of Kiwi Kenny. Very young bear, born in 2010, who has been adopted by the Kiwi Club of Old Hall Primary School, Gorton, Manchester. He is the mascott for six children in the Kiwi Club. He has travelled a lot since being born. He has been to Paradise Island and ridden on a steam train on the East Lancs Railway. He wants to be the next furry Michael Palin! Teddy bears were popularised by the American president Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt early in the 20th century. They are still very popular today.
