This original plug was removed from the historic Hot Bath during work on the new Thermae Bath Spa. It was used to drain the Hot Bath of the natural thermal waters. It is 26 inches in circumference and 7ft tall. The Hot Bath was originally built on the site of one of Bath's three hot springs and was known as Alsys Bath. The building that exists today was built in 1783 by Thomas Baldwin.
