These taxidermists' tools are among a number of items that would have been used to preserve specimens for further study. Haslemere Museum has a large number of animals and birds and the collection includes work by Rowland Ward (1835-1912). Ward was regarded by many as the finest British historical taxidermist of his time and his work connected him to places throughout the world. He took over the taxidermy business from father, Henry Ward and significantly expanded the company during the days of big game hunting in Africa and India. The animals Ward worked with included African lions! The tools are featured on our AHOW Relic trail.
