Our skeleton is one of the original items that started the collection at Haslemere Educational Museum. Using bolts and wire, the skeleton was reconstructed for display purposes in the late 1800s and it sits in a wooden and glass case. The object most likely belonged to Sir Jonathan Hutchinson, a Quaker surgeon and founder of the museum. Hutchinson left an incredible legacy in terms of world health. He was the founder of the London Polyclinic or Postgraduate School of Medicine and has his name attached to a number of conditions, including Hutchinson's angina, Hutchinson's disease, Hutchinson's freckle (a pre-cancerous spot occurring in old age). The reconstructed human skeleton is one of the objects featured on our AHOW Relic trail.
