This pocket watch was created by Roger Dunster who worked in Amsterdam and London in the early 1700's. This is a rare example of a watch due to its very elaborate gold case (with a central image which appears to represent the Judgment of Paris. The Judgement of Paris is a story from Greek mythology, which was one of the events that led up to the Trojan War) striking movement, and its age.

This pocket watch is one of a collection given to Craven Museum & Gallery by a local collector Mr F.W.Fisher who lived in Tarn House on the banks of Malham Tarn in the 1930's. Sadly we don't know who it originally belonged to but at the time it was made pocket watches were very rare. This watch is of such high quality that it could only have belonged to someone of very important status possibly even from the royal court.
