Episode 54

It was a very close run thing but Sìleas and Marsaili decide to turn down Eàirdsidh's offer of a lift to Glasgow in favour of a more rural destination. But where? Having first travelled from Mingulay to Barra, Marsaili and Sìleas spend much of the five hour ferry crossing to Oban debating this very question. Eventually, Marsaili decides she'd like Sìleas to have the final say.

Just as the call goes out for car drivers and their passengers to return to the car deck, Sìleas looks up from her newspaper and squeals, "Tha e agam! Seo a nì sinn." (I've got it! This is what we'll do). The advert she has seen is for a Mystery Tour trip which, for a set fee, transports passengers to an undisclosed Scottish destination.

Eàirdsidh, Marsaili and Sìleas disembark and stroll around the town known as the Gateway to the Isles. They take in the sights, such as McCaig's Tower, a folly which sits on the town's Battery Hill, and the picturesque harbour before bidding farewell to Eàirdsidh, who must be on his way as he has a singing engagement at a music festival that evening.

Seadh ma-thà, ciamar a gheibh sinn air an turas-sa? (Right then, how do we get onto the mystery tour?) asks Marsaili, before being interrupted by the ringing of her mobile phone. "Oooooh, inntinneach!" she murmurs into the handset. Closing her phone, she nonchalantly asks Sìleas "How about a trip to Iona instead?" Clouds of fury descend upon Sìleas! Marsaili promised she could decide the next destination. Marsaili, however, fights back.
