Throughout the years Pebble Mill has been home to several prime time 主播大秀 television dramas, from the early days of All Creatures Great and Small to the popular 主播大秀 1 lunchtime drama series, Doctors.

After the closure of Pebble Mill 主播大秀 Birmingham鈥檚 local radio, online and Midlands TV moved right into the heart of the city centre and have settled into their new home at The Mailbox.

The cast of Dalziel & Pascoe, Doctors and The Afternoon plays are now the occupants of a brand new drama village based at the University of Birmingham, Selly Oak campus.

The Drama Village consists of Archibald House and Melville House.

Archibald House is a Grade II listed building, which offers a combination of architectural elegance and state-of-the-art broadcasting technology, housed in bright offices overlooking beautiful grounds.

Melville House is a closed set used for filming daytime series, Doctors. A trading estate nearby is also part of the drama village, used as television sets and Radio Resources.

Doctors is the first 30 minute drama made by 主播大秀 Drama Series for 主播大秀 One Daytime.

Now in its fifth year, Christopher Timothy leads the cast as senior partner Dr Brendan McGuire, along with Diane Keen, Corrinne Wicks, Stirling Gallacher and Ariyon Bakare.

The series is set in the fictional Midlands town of Letherbridge, located in Birmingham and follows the continuing stories of the staff and their patients.

Doctors was acknowledged for its on-screen excellence and in its first year was nominated for a BAFTA. The following year it was again nominated for a BAFTA, this time in the new soap category and won the National RTS Craft award.

This long running popular 主播大秀 One series stars Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan as detectives Dalziel & Pascoe. The intriguing blend of classic murder mysteries, compelling characters and down-to-earth humour has won the series millions of viewers since it began in 1996.

Warren Clarke is the idiosyncratic, no-nonsense copper, Dalziel, with a penetrating wit and questionable personal habits. Colin Buchanan is the perfect foil as Pascoe his cultured side-kick.
36 episodes have been made of the drama with more planned.

Over the years Dalziel and Pascoe has had many guest artistes including: Jack Dee, Norman Wisdom, Alison Steadman, Dervla Kirwan, Tim Healy, David Soul, Ricky Tomlinson, James Bolam, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Prunella Scales, Celia Imrie and Francesca Annis.

The Afternoon Play premiered its first run of five self-contained stories in January 2003 -as a joint venture between 主播大秀 Daytime and Drama series.

The superb quality of the writing has ensured a wealth of popular and well-loved talent have taken part in the plays. On-screen names include: Robson Green, Tina Hobley, Jamie Theakston, Jean Alexander, Jason Merrells and Samantha Janus.

Behind the camera, there have been contributions from Nigel Havers, Christopher Timothy and Sarah Lancashire.

In 2004, the Afternoon Play series won in every Drama category at the regional Royal Television Society Awards.

Travel directions to the 主播大秀 Birmingham Drama Village

By car:- Approaching from the NW or SE along the M6, leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38M. At the end of the motorway, keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through three underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road. Drive past Oak Tree Lane on the left and Weoley Park Road on the right, the road becomes Bristol Road South toward Northfield. Archibald House is on the right so perform a U-turn in the designated areas. For car parking enter the grounds of the University by the Archibald House, South Drive or Melville Hall entrances.

By train:- All inter-city services to Birmingham arrive at New Street Station. Up to 6 trains an hour depart from New Street for the Selly Oak train station.(Final destination: Longbridge or Redditch on the Cross-City line). Archibald House is a 20 minute walk from the station, alternatively use a bus or taxi to complete the journey.

By bus:- Numbers 61, 62 and 63 travel to the Selly Oak campus and run frequently from the city centre. Alight the bus on Bristol Road South just after Weolly Park Road.
