Ö÷²¥´óÐã

The Children in Need Party in Centenary Square on Friday night was the culmination of a day (or even several days) of frantic fundraising by people across Birmingham.

There was entertainment from 6pm until 10pm, with live music, Ö÷²¥´óÐã DJs, TV presenters and fun activities, including giant inflatables and a funfair, as well as Pudsey Bear himself being around to meet the crowds.

They were joined by little Connie Talbot, the six (soon to be seven) year old star of Britain’s Got Talent.

A real highlight of the evening was The Thomas Vale Pantomime Horse Grand National. When grown men and women pretended to be race horses – they even got dressed up as horses and then charged along a gruelling 12 jump course, including water jumps, hay bails and foam fences.

It was probably more fun for those watching than those taking part! But all of the horses really got into the spirit of it, and helped raise a lot of money for Children in Need.

Mark James was the winner of the Colt's race.Ìý This was his first appearance in the event - so a very well done to him.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã WM's Mollie Green won the fillies race. She'd obviously been training hard after her early morning radio show.

Midland Today's Ashley Blake and Sarah Falkland were also in Centenary Square. The Children in Need TV output for the West Midlands came from here, much to the delight of the crowd.

After the Grand National event, Aaron Yorke kept the crowds entertained, and the final band of the night was Miccoli.

Fundraising at the Golf Show

Ö÷²¥´óÐã WM were at the NEC for the Golf Show from Friday 16th - Sunday 18th November raising money for Children In Need. Pudsey bear encouraged golfers to donate some money, while they set an (un-official) new record for how far a golf ball can travel in one day.

How much was raised

You've done it again! The British public have beaten all previous records, raising a staggering £19,089,771 for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Children in Need, topping last year's total of £18.3 million.

And there is still more to come as the money continues to pour in from the thousands of fundraising events already held, or scheduled to happen.

The West Midlands has helped to raise more than one and a half million pounds of that total, so well done to all the fundraisers.
