De-structure

Materials: 1 denim jacket, 1jeans, 1old school skirt, some old lace, a broken disco ball. I wanted the piece to show the way we are pushing the environment to the back of our lives, so I created lots of rigid structure at the front using pleating and body-conscious pattern cutting. The pocket also reminds me of scaffolding. I used the back of the dress to show how nature is growing through our built environment. Also at the back there is more use of flowing lines through the gathering. I think the stark contrast between the rigid tailoring and the looser sections portrays the message I wanted it to. Plus the dress is cute.
