My inspiration for this design was the Mexican flag colours: green, white and red. My colour palette was also inspired by Mexican food and the bright red and green peppers they contain. The pattern for the fabric was developed from the idea of drought and how earth becomes cracked from lack of moisture. I would use chiffon to give a floaty feel which would be good in the Mexican climate, but also because after looking at Matthew Williamson's collections he uses floaty fabric. I chose an empire line, maxi dress style because I feel it gives the dress a free elegance which is contrasted with the red leggings. I chose to put red leggings under the dress because I felt it gave the dress a dressed down glamour.
