My dress design

My inspiration for my design was from the Mexican tradition 'The Day of The Dead'. I also researched Matthew Williamson's collection and took particular notice of the detailed dresses. I then put these ideas together and designed a pattern that I decided to put on the skirt of the dress. I call my pattern a skull flower because of its skull center and developed petals around it. For my dress shape I chose a simple Mexican kaftan style and developed it so it looked more womanly and flirty. I also designed a hat and put my pattern in the center of it. I chose to put red feathers in it because of a picture I saw where a skeleton is wearing a fancy hat with huge feathers on it.
