This dress is inspired by the Mexican Hat Dance dresses where the dress is full length and drapes well at the bottom. I have used vivid colours to represent the warm climate of Mexico and warm colours are also often used in Mexican costumes. The foral patterns are inspired by both Williamson's works and Mexico. Williamson has used bright floral patterns in his designs against black and white fabrics and I have tried to incorportae this into my design. I have also scattered beadings into the patterns as this is often used in Mexican costumes. The diamond pattern on the bodice is often seen in Williamson's designs and in Aztec patterns. The belt uses vivdly coloured ribbons as ribbons are used on Mexican dance dresses. The hair piece is infliuenced by Mexican carnival costumes as the dancers adorned their head pieces wtih ostrich feather. The ruffled halter neck strap is inspired by Williamson's swim suit designs where he ruffled the neck strap. Some of Williamson's design has a change in colour towards the edge of the garment and I have incorporated this idea into my dress as it changes to red at the bottom.

This is a wonderful dress which displays the culture of Mexico very well. I love the red and balck together and all the beautiful flowers.
