The dress was inspired from researching the work of Matthew Williamson, particularly his use of feminine materials and short style dresses, combing this with a flavour of Mexico's culture, traditions, spicy food, famous icons and artists, their hot climate, vibrant colours and decorative patterns. A possible material to use could be layering of thin fabrics such as organza, doubling up colours and textures to create an effective delicate yet fiery dress. The neckline was stimulated through looking at the traditional square necklines of Mexican women and adding a contemporary twist. While the colours inspired by the rich fabrics of Mexico and the flavour of Mexican dancing. The two accessories to the dress are a headpiece and a fan which transforms into a decorative neckpiece, creating diversity to the garment as well as detail and structure. The waist section pleated or gathered fabric, two tonal organza covering a base material. In contrast the straps echo the neckline and dip low into the back to form a backless dress. The style and shapes of the machine stitching on the dress, neckpiece and fan was inspired from the tiles created in Mexico.
