The Screen-Skills TV Craft Bursary

We are delighted to announce that Sam Shetabi is the winner of the 主播大秀 Blast & BAFTA Screen-Skills Award in 2010.

The young Director of Photogrpahy was presented with the inaugural award at this year鈥檚 British Academy Television Craft Awards on Sunday 23 May.

We鈥檝e been working with to give young people the chance to learn the skills to make TV happen!

The bursaries allow eight aspiring Scriptwriters, Directors of Photography, Editors and Composers to get mentoring from the cream of the TV industry and get their hands on a 拢3000 budget to make their new piece of work.

Four out of the eight finalists were nominated for a Screen-Skills award and the winner will be announced at the TV Craft Awards in May 2010. In addition to the placements, they will get a helping hand from a BAFTA-winning expert! Watch clips of their nominated films and read all about their experiences by clicking on their names below.

THIS YEAR'S SCREEN-SKILLS BURSARY WINNERS

Scriptwriter

Harriet, 16, Sheffield (Screen-Skills award nominee)

I won the screenwriting category for my film about a toy goblin. I love Bolivia, Green Wing, Franz Ferdinand and Shakespeare. I hate Physics homework and Tutti Frutti flavour. When I'm older, I'd like to write feature films and TV series for a living and travel around the world.

I鈥檓 studying screenwriting. Music, film and writing are my passions. Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind and Memento are a few films which really have astounded me鈥�

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to work in telly. One day I want to climb the ladder to Exec Producer and maybe even Channel Controller when I'm old and grey!

I started making stop motion animations when I was 6. Whenever I see something good on TV or at the cinema I think to myself, I want to be part of that. My ultimate ambition in the industry is to have my own film studios!

I'm going to try and learn as much as I can and really make the most of the opportunities given to me. I'm so lucky to get the Editing bursary - it'll give me the chance to improve my storytelling and become a better filmmaker all round.

I could never have predicted this is where I'd be today: getting nominated for the Screen-Skills BAFTA Award, composing ideas for scores, sitting in on recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios and meeting inspirational creatives. Weird.
