So, am I not the one?
Not the one to sit with you til the end of time?
Am I gonna come up second best yet again?
I suppose I'm the guy that everyone says, 'aww, you're such a great guy',
But, doesn't mean it.
I guess there's always gonna be that one guy who's better than me,
That one guy whose got it all,
Got everything you're looking for,
And I come in second, incomplete,
As usual.
I'm never the one,
Just 'the other guy',
The guy everyone says is 'so sweet', and yet, he gets nowhere,
He just sits alone,
For the majority of his life.
But, could I be the one?
Could it be my turn?
Your heart is impossible to read.
So complicated,
So broken.
This is thanks to mistreatment,
And I know I'll treat you right,
There is no possible way in which I couldn't,
I know how to treat a girl,
I'm in love, I have to.
I lay alone,
I want you by my side,
Till the end of time,
Can it ever be?
Will it ever be?
I see your reflection in the light of missed chances,
And I don't want to,
I want to be able to see you all the time,
In the reflection of chances taken,
In front of my very eyes.
But, from what has transpired,
From what I have been through,
From what you have been through,
From the things that have happened to you,
It's obviously not meant to be'
Or is it?'
As far as I could tell I was in love, and that was what inspired me. The girl had been through a lot of bad experiemces as far as relationships were concerned. And then she told me she liked someone else so, I wrote this poem.
