Title: King Arthur and the round table

by Dave from Kent | in writing, poetry

A tale of a young man
There down in the street
Seeking his prospect
Of life he does weep

Did Merlin help?
The hopeful boy
Or was it just luck
With utmost joy

Many people think
He was heir to the throne
That's why he pulled'
The sword from the stone

Made for him
Like was the table
With all his future followers
Knights, all able

A table of peace?
A table of love?
Built for the people?
Sent from above?

How did it get there?
How was it used?
Many different answers
Gets people quite confused

Guinevere, Lancelot many alike
Swords in stones and ladies in lakes
Excalibur! The Grail! People with dreams
How could they be' all a fake?

Epic battles did he fight
How he had time for this
We all have our doubts
But as legend tells us we must keep concerned
Stories like this are astounding; we've learned'
