Title: Dusk

by Gabby | in writing, fiction

Andrew Hunter turned left, taking a shortcut through the industrial estate. He was late for his night shift in the local hotel. He liked the estate at dusk, it was so quite, he could hear his footsteps echoing off the warehouses. He picked up the pace, a short glance at the screen of his phone told him he was already 10 minutes late, and he was on his third warning. He stopped. Turning 360 degrees, he scanned the estate for whoever had made the footsteps. Nobody. He was definitely going mad, that was the 3rd time that day he'd thought someone was following him. He took another step. Then another. Definitely going mad. As he approached the gate he glanced at his mobile again. 15 minutes late. He broke into a jog.
Suddenly a scaffolding pole swung from the side of a warehouse, knocking him straight between the eyes. Andrew fell, losing his consciousness almost instantly, but not before he saw the two white coats approaching him from the darkness
