The witch placed two mysterious objects in the stone table and now he had to choose; one of them would free him, and the other, would kill him! He realised what to do. He knew which to take. Or so he thought...
I leaped out from the silent wood, with fear across my face. Panting and gasping for breath. Then I heard it, the same blood curdling screech. They were coming. After the rustling leaves the dead night had grown silent. And they weren't coming'this time.
When I returned back to the camp site I found Ricky dead! I couldn't believe it; we were so close, we could have escaped. A torch saved my life, but it couldn't help Ricky. Every time I saw or heard something a huge chill ran down my back and the hairs on my neck felt like they were being pulled out.
The moon and the stars were covered with a black blanket. There was a slight eerie glow coming from the sky; I didn't know that black could glow.
I saw Ricky's bag. When I picked it up the wind gave a terrifying growl. Once I opened it I couldn't believe my eyes. A big black diamond! As I paused and stared at it, I heard someone coming. I immediately put the diamond back, and shone the light. Then out of the darkness came a woman. She had pure white skin, as if she had seen a ghost' Or one of those creatures.
'It isn't safe' She said calmly.
I pointed at Ricky's body. She didn't jump or get scared, and I think I knew why. She knew what they were, what killed Ricky!
She told me if I wanted to live I should follow her. I tried asking her what her name was, but she kept quiet. She led me to an old cottage. It was easy to tell no one had been here for years, the grass and plants were dried out and had no moister left. The building had huge gaping holes were the windows were suppose to be. The inexplicable women lead the way inside. It was all dusty. I was about to ask who killed Ricky but before I could she said,
'Those creatures live of animals, plants and humans, first they spin around you, taking heat from your body. Then they will start to leach in to your skin, once in they will torture you by causing your blood to boil, your bones will start to crack and turn to dust. You will be a bag of meat, and then they will move around inside you, moving your organs and lastly grant your wish. The only wish you or any one would ever have at that moment is to be dead. They can take the form of any shadow''
I didn't. My head, heart and mind hurt too much for me to realize that the mysterious women had vanished. Was she telling the truth? If she was, where did those freaks come from? I just could not believe it. Or wouldn't? I didn't know what to do. But I knew that the diamond was somehow connected to it all. What was I suppose to do?
What was I missing? Maybe it was' It was HER! She looked very different, like an old women. That is what Ricky must have been talking about, she was the witch! Ricky must have taken the diamond, that's why she killed him or got those Shadow creatures to kill him. Why tell me about the shadow creatures? I had to find out. I went back to our camp site to see if I can find anything that may help me to trace that woman. I kept the diamond with me because I knew it had something to do with all of this. When I arrived I noticed that the place had been trashed. She was here. She came looking for the diamond. I had to find out what all this meant and what the diamond had to do with it. Then I realized the underground caves. Our whole expedition was about those caves. When I was in the caves the sky turned black, that's when he must have took the diamond.
I know what to do. I have to somehow return the diamond. So I took it out of the bag and put it on the floor, that's when things turned black and blurry. When I started to feel cold, I knew what was happening. They're attacking! My skin was turning blue then it felt like my insides were on fire. As my bones cracked and turned to dust I collapsed, unable to move, I could feel everything inside me moving. Fortunately for me they just stopped. I felt all the pain leaving my body. Everything in my body was slowly going back to normal, or was it?
I had to go back to the caves, with the diamond. I could hear my heart pounding through the silence of the night.
For some strange reason I walked bristly through still woods, with the thought of revenge racing across my mind.
As soon as I got there, I could the wind whispering, beckoning me to come closer. This whole place was really starting to make me crazy. I slowly entered the cave, gazing at its magnificent stone carvings. Not realizing that I was being followed! When I found out, I hid behind one of the many pillars of the cave, waiting to attack. I had a no doubt on who it was going to be. As she went past I attempted to try to trip her up. To my surprise she went through my leg' just like' a shadow!
'You have to listen to me!' she exclaimed. 'Your life is in danger. You must not place the diamond back on the altar.'
'Why the hell should I listen to you?' I screamed. 'It is your fault Ricky lost his life!
'Will you just shut up and listen. He died because he was greedy; he had hatred in his heart. She sighed, and continued, 'When the shadows attacked it was so they could turn you into them. In to me.' She whispered. 'I was once like you, and then it all changed. They only turn the ones that threaten them; you could have put the diamond back and trapped us all, including you.
'This cannot be happening! You are lying to me, this not real.' You're lying to me!' Suddenly I collapsed.
Shedding a single tear she replied, 'I'm sorry. But it is all true and you have to accept it or die, and if you don't believe me then I'm' Okay! Hold out your hand.'
She took my hand and with the other she touched the diamond. At first nothing happened, there was a terrible noise and it happened. I could no longer see my body; instead there was a faint dark matter that I seemed to control. Soon it became darker and thicker, and then I was able to change my body shape into anything.
Then it happened. Sharp searing pain. I awoke, found all of those creatures around me. It wasn't real; when I got attacked they controlled me into giving the diamond to them!
'Clever, but it's too late. Know that I have the diamond I will rightfully claim my title as the Empress of Darkness! Take him and look him up.'
As I tried to understand what had happened, a light shone from above me and I suddenly felt hope even as her maniacal laughter ran on echoing...
