Title: Winter

by Will | in writing, poetry

Winter is
When the sun turns shy for a while
And hides under a tablecloth of pewter cloud
And happiness comes in reds, and greens,
And television screens show us the old chestnuts
While outside old romantics roast them.
And then the period of lost purpose
Between Christmas and New Year
When everything turns quiet for a moment of perfect
Stillness
Before the sales come
And the pavements
Crammed with people
Look the same as the roads
Crammed with cars.
Then the street is
Full of being and light and life
And a fug of condensing breaths
That rises to bluer skies
And better tomorrows.
