Title: The night we ran

by Tobias from Wales | in writing, poetry

Our feet hit the street
And our hearts were as one
With fear on our backs
How I wished for the sun

We stop for a while
I gather some sense
This adrenaline fades
This feels so intense

With my hand in yours
And that look in your eye
Take a deep breath
Try not to cry

A wave of emotion
On the shore of despair
A lump in my throat
At the smell of your hair

Running felt wrong
We need to be adult
It wasn't right to do
It was completely our fault

I hand you back to them
And feel my heart pause
I step to the street
And my sadness soars

As the screaming starts
My heart begins to tear
You were yelling my name
But it was fair

It was the right thing to do
My poor darling lover
It was out of love
Some day we'll see one another

And now I'm alone
And my heart's in the bin
I just want to see you
Is that really a sin?

I think you feel the same
We just want to be
We respect each other
Maybe one day they will see'.

This poem is based on true events, it was a real thing that happened when me and my girlfriend ran away from her parents but we went back because we realised how we couldn't run and it's just a description of the night in artistic form.
