Title: It sort of does

by Sophie from Dorset | in writing, poetry

'The fact that there are seven years
Between us doesn't matter,'
Said the man
'We'll try as hard as possible
As hard as we can'
'But about my father?
He'll surely find us out'
The girl, but seventeen, was scared
She cried herself to sleep at night
'He doesn't matter
This feels right'
'But feeling's not the same as knowing
And what if, somehow, it goes wrong?'
'Then, at least, you'll always have our song'
And then they danced the hours away
The girl was serious
The man thought it was play.
