Title: Love hurts

by Gem from Lancashire | in writing, fiction

Ella sat on the wooden floor in the darkness. The darkness she knew so well. Her head was hidden under her arms not wanting to know the cruel world anymore. Black mascara run down her cheeks from her swollen eyes. The eyes that had cried too many times before.
Her heart was all that could be heard. Breaking the silence from underneath her pyjama top.
Ella slowly lifted her head and rested it against her wardrobe door brushing her long brown wavy hair from her face revealing her big red eyes that could no longer cry.
She ripped several hair grips from her hair and threw them across the room into the darkness listening to them bounce off her cupboards across from her.
She was lost in a world of hurt like she had let go of life's hand and had fallen into a pit of despair.
She remembered the nights they had met.
Her and the boy, Robert. Although they were not going out he held her hand, told her she was pretty, put his arms round her and held her so tight. She shivered remembering him even putting his head on her shoulder and kissing her cheek.
Robert was the first boy to ever make Ella feel wanted and special.
The first boy to ever tell her she was pretty when it wasn't a joke and the first boy to ever kiss her when it wasn't for a dare.
He was the first boy to ever make her feel like she meant something. She wanted so much for him to be hers truly but shortly after he told her she was nice but he wasn't looking for a relationship. Ella was so confused and hurt. How could he do this? She couldn't believe the one boy she actually felt liked her back had just been messing her around. She was just someone to make the time pass by.
The truth was she hadn't meant anything to him. She was just one in a million girls he had led on before.
How did she fall for his act? After so many people had warned her he was a player.
It had been so hard for her to get over all the boys in the past who didn't like her back but this time it felt like it was going to be ten times harder because Robert had given her attention. He made her think someone loved her. He made her believe her dream had come true.
