Title: Words Can Burn

by Taelyn | in writing, poetry

The venom in your words
Burns my soul
But I have learned
To cry on the inside
Keep my secrets my own
I have learned to accept it
To ignore it
'I pity you,
Poor waste of life,'
I wish to say
But I can't.
To know what it's like
To be overstressed,
Overstretched.
To know perfection
Is the expectation
You really are in perspective
Stresses at home
In school
Failing
Dropping
Falling away,
Like some old toy
No longer desired.
I know what it's like.
But no cry for help is uttered,
Because the venom in your words
Burns me into silence
Until I am rediscovered.
