Title: Hello Disaster.

by Kirsty from Hampshire and Isle of Wight | in writing, fiction

Lily decided to perch herself on the end of the bench when Libby had got up to buy a cake from the cafeteria, and tried not let her new coats absent button draw attention, as she has been so proud of her new coat and vocally said that if she was to ruin it in anyway, she would pay one million pounds to the first person who noticed it. After months of tedious moaning that 'all my friends have black coats,' Lily was allowed to snap up a coat that cost the size of a small West African country but went along with a whole load of 'if you ruin this you'll be in BIG trouble,' meaning a small telling off. Mind you if it was her Dad doing the telling off, it would be more like a burning stare, that her and her sister liked to call 'The Look.' It could make you nervous for days, as you constantly glanced over your shoulders, chewing your finger nails and resisting the urge to hide under the nearest bridge for the rest of your days. After two weeks of joy, her coat had gotten stuck on the handle of her bedroom door and the large button on the front had pinged off, leaving an unattractive thick drizzle of string hanging limply. There was no time for silent panicking, Lily simply hastily yet stealthily placed her hand in it's place, looking like she was about to bellow the national anthem at any moment, strange as Lily could only get as far as 'God save our gracious Queen, long live our noble lady person'' or words to that affect. Oh how patriotic we are nowadays. Nonetheless, Lily loved the royal family and saluted every time she saw them on television, well she did the same for Johnny Depp and anyone else that she felt deserved it
