Title: That is the day

by Petatus from Northamptonshire | in writing, poetry

I am walking,
Slow and steady,
One step at a time,
Slow and steady.

I struggle each day,
To pick up my feet,
Walk out of my house,
And down my street,
I know what is waiting for me when I arrive.

I am walking,
Slow and steady,
One step at a time,
Slow and steady.

Into the playground,
They've seen me, I know,
I try to ignore them,
But my breathe draws slow,
They're always there, waiting for me.

I am walking,
Slow and steady,
One step at a time,
Slow and steady.

My key in the door,
I enter the house,
Mum isn't home,
So now's my chance,
I mop up the blood and cover the bruise,
A shock to her, but to me it's old news.

If I stumble,
Or if I fall,
There's no going back,
I just let me fall,
Follow my footsteps,
Slow and steady,
And one day I'll stumble,
And one day I'll fall,
And that is the day where there's no going back,
That is the day when my mind goes black.

I had just finished reading an amazing book that my friend gave me for my birthday. It's called 'Inventing Elliot' and that was my inspiration.
