Title: Forget

by Richard from Cheshire | in writing, poetry

In a cage
I've fled my cage
The life was parched
From freedom and thought
And the dog-eared pages
Dropping from red rusted eyes

And when I leave
All the butterflies go
And the trees fly back
The sun blots out
Always and ever

I'm gone from here
Gone from there
I'm gone from here
Gone from there

Kisses hanging on the skyline
Embraces lost at sea
Fire crying
In the rain, oh the rain
And your skin is
A whole new childhood
Celebrate your laughter
The drink and the dice

Forget the poem, the painting
Your love was ice
And the truth is heat
Oh the bridges
They span from here
And the light goes dark

Leave it on, leave it on
Sing me one more raspy little
Lullaby-aby-aby say all those
All those parades
You said all that glitter
Lost in a wind across my curtains

Cannot sleep with the lights on
But you could never sleep
You say you're not okay
But I'm gone, without your
Feet on the ground, off the air
When you touch my face
Never say your say
And leave your words scattered
Across the pillows and
Your scent somewhere
In the walls and pictures

Your string is winding
Round the dreams all over
The nights and the grins and the sky
Stunning gently my moon and
My stars dry your lips
Leave my heart chattering
Across the floor and the ceiling
And forget the rusty bars
Some other lover lost for words
Will bind them to their touch

A memory long ago, now crying at my doorstep.
