Title: Epiphany

by Daisy from Wiltshire | in writing, poetry

I am not yet sixteen. Years have been
Too few for me to look upon the Earth,
And declare that I have knowledge of
Life, of love.
I cannot know what I should be,
or even who I am.
The deepest bounds of my heart are unknown to me. In my own eyes I am
Not myself.
Strange now it seems, that the white dove should savage the carrion crow,
Then turn skywards and, spreading her soft wings,
Sing as she had ever done before.
There is not one of us left now.
In the height of all our glory we are, every one of us,
No longer what we were.
How false we have all become.
And how blind.
That window through which I looked in summertime,
When days were long and pleasant
Was grime stained green and thick with dust.
It is clean now, and I can see,
But winter has set in
And all Gods creation has been stripped to the bone,
Before my innocent eyes.

Sorry if this poem is quite hard to understand. It is about the loss of innocence as we grow out of childhood. Its a bit depressing really. sorry!
