STONED by Tom Snudden

A beautiful sunset, five youths, four boys and one girl, walk along a boulevard by a sandy beach. There are several other people walking their dogs along the boulevard.

ETHAN: Idiot, sellin' it for five grand. Could've made 6 easy.

JEB: Leave it. I made a profit. If you've got a problem-

BIANCA: Enough about the car!

The sun begins to disappear behind the horizon, casting a gorgeous orange over the beach. An ominous silence ensues.

ETHAN: Ay, Sam, bet you a fiver you can't hit that window with this stone.

SAM: I wouldn't take your money away from you mate.

JEB: I'll do it, that one to the left?

Ethan: Yeah.

MIKEY: Maybe you shouldn't, it's someone's hou-

ETHAN: Shut up Mike, you fat idiot.

BIANCA: Haha.

Jeb picks up the stone and tosses it heavily towards the house. He misses, but the sound of the stone landing on a car roof is heard loudly.

The five youths, laughing, run up along the boulevard.

BIANCA: Who wants a fag?

An elderly man walking his dog stumbles past them. Ethan holds his foot out. The man trips but regains his balance. He walks off the boulevard and onto the beach towards the sea. Bianca laughs at him loudly.

MIKEY: Bianc, he's old for christ-

ETHAN: Tenner says I can hit his dog.

SAM: You're on mate.. it's ages away.

MIKEY: Jesus mate, what's wrong with-

Ethan quickly picks up a large stone and throws it. It travels incredibly high and fast across the beach, past several other people before landing heavily with a loud crack on the back of the elderly man's head. Silence. Jeb mutters something incomprehensible.

The youths run in seperate directions. The old man is left lying motionless, blood slowly seeping into the sand. The only sound to be heard is Bianca's shrill laugh fading into the distance. Mikey is left standing, his head in his hands.

Blackout.
