Title: Some of us

by Isabelle from Somerset | in writing, poetry

Some of us have hearts like summer butter, warm and easily melted, sometimes too soft.
Some of us are too easily swayed, like willows, gentle and quick to waft.
Some of us do not need encouragement to run away, like that summer butter on a hot, still day.
Some of us have hearts like winter butter, cold and hard, sometimes unyielding.
Some of us are like a golden locket, shiny and pure on the outside, but inside they are empty and unfulfilling.
Some of us need a handful of precious time to roast, like a stiff lump of winter butter on a fresh slice of toast.
But whether you are warm or cold, soft or strong, please take this moment to reflect, for we could all make a difference with whatever time we have left.
