Title: Patience Without Reward

by Catherine from Kent | in writing, poetry

Just having the chance to meet you again,
Is all I wanted, but it reminds me of the pain,
For months, it was you I didn't see,
But one day you suddenly contacted me.

I knew meeting you would risk everything,
But now I know your words just mean anything,
You never really did care,
Even though I always stood there.

Waiting there nervously for you,
It was my chance to be open, I knew,
Just seeing you made me nervous like never before,
Because our friendship was on the lines once more.

Standing next to you, made me feel something I can't explain,
It brought back my doubts, worries and hopes again,
This was the moment I had been longing for,
But things had changed, I knew for sure.

I so wanted to make things right,
But I could see you didn't want to hold on tight,
Re-uniting was just a one-off situation,
Now your heart's in another location.

Actions speak louder than any word,
Too many lies I sure heard,
You could bring out any emotion within me,
But a hardly a single one, you would let me see.
