Title: Elementals (Four Stones)

by Gabriella from London | in writing, fiction

'Tell me again, what will happen when I grow up?' demanded a little black haired boy.
'I told you, you will grow into a fine warrior.' sighed Shasta; Tase had asked the question may times already.
Shasta was a small woman who liked to wear her pale blonde hair in her bun, her periwinkle robes made her look bigger when she really was slim and frail.
'Tase please get me some nectar.' she asked.
The little boy was happy to oblige, his mother was so frail he thought any movement would make her snap in half.

When he'd returned with the sweet yellow drink, he saw that they had a visitor.
A tall man wearing simple trousers and a dirty white shirt was grinning at his mother.
'Mother should I get him some nectar too?'
'I don't think I'm staying for long.' answered the man before Shasta could reply.
A gleam of silver caught his eye.
'W'what are you doing with that sharp thing?' stammered Tase.
'Just doing your mum a favour.' replied the man and suddenly in a flash, the knife was against Shasta's throat.
'You don't dare touch my mum, I'm an elemental.' declared Tase.
The man laughed, 'Then you should stop me doing this.'
In one quick movement, he slit Shasta's throat.

Tase's eyes filled with tears and he began to cry pitifully.
Even when the assassin had gone he was still crying.
His thoughts may had still been three year old thoughts but he was certain the people responsible for Shasta's murder would pay'

Eleven years later, he'd made them pay but many others had been killed by him and they weren't guilty assassins.
Well people had to make a living.
As he sat there turning a dagger with a ruby decorated hilt in his hands, memories of his victims returned with full force.
'Please no'NO!' screeched a young woman as Tase killed her husband.
Children trying to defend their parents, weak sisters saying you had to go through them first. The memories flooded his head even more as he tried to get rid of them.
Kumini seeds!

A shaking hand reached for a packet of the round seeds.
As soon as he'd chewed the seed, a feeling of relief and vigour spread through his body and all felt well.
He was back to his usual self and that meant he could go for a killing.
A truly feral smile lit his face making his brown eyes even darker; oh yes a killing he would go.
