Title: Stonekeeper

by Gabriella from London | in writing, fiction

'The three jewels.' murmured Storg.
Remal followed Storg into the room, 'There's nothing in there!' he complained.
Storg didn't answer but he beckoned Remal to follow him to the very front of the room.
'This better be good because you cut down some of my training time.' grumbled Remal.
Storg replied by scowling, 'Being a leader is not just about fighting, it is about wisdom and not being ignorant.'
Remal said nothing, that man was beginning to get on his nerves.

Remal was King Nasson's son, with a shock of unruly brown hair and strange glittering eyes, he managed to draw as much intrigue as respect.
Storg was the only person that didn't respect him; he seemed to find joy in training Remal till he wanted to drop dead.

He stared aimlessly around the room until Storg moved his head to the front
Finally, he saw a glass case at the front of the room that he was he hadn't seen when he'd first seen the room.
In the glass case lay three jewels.
'It's just jewels, there's nothing special about them apart from the fact they're beautiful.' he said.
Storg smiled, 'They may look like ordinary jewels but don't judge by appearances.'
Remal inched closer to the jewels, he was aware of a power that seemed to radiate from the gems, the power filled the room stifling him.
Storg carefully lifted the lid of the glass case so he could see them clearly.
He drew his hand to particularly touch a blood red ruby, SMACK!
'Don't dare touch them, they are more powerful than you may think.' warned Storg.
'Leader Storg, King Nasson has sent a message.' came a voice.
He turned to face a messenger, 'Ok what is the message?' asked Storg.

Whiles Storg's back was turned, he turned to the ruby again.
Again it called out to him, haunting and beautiful.
He reached out and touched it.
Nothing happened.
Disappointed, Remal turned to Storg and the messenger to hear what they were discussing.
Thankfully it was about Storg training Remal with the army instead of at home, which he was pleased about.

Meanwhile something was happening inside Remal's body and it wasn't good.
The soul was invisible but its presence is a great source of power.
A swirling silver mass, it glistened giving away how strong and powerful it was.
The ruby buried into his soul, it greedily began to feed of Remal's power.
Unfortunately Remal did not notice it was going to be a while before he did and by then he may be too late'
