Title: Mask

by distortedtruth from Warwickshire | in writing, poetry, love

You always see a smile, when inside there is a tear.
You always see my hope, but inside lies only feel fear.
You believe the lie that I rehearsed for when you ask,
But I really wish you could see the pain behind the mask.

I'm trying not to hurt you, but I'm dying from this pain.
Maybe if you saw it I could be loved once again.
I know it's hard to see, but if you really tried,
You'd see the mask is covering the sorrow that's inside.

I try to scream for help, but no sound can escape through,
I know when you are hiding all the things that hurt you too.
So if you understand, why don't you hear my silent cries,
Why dont you see the fear when you're looking in my eyes.

At night I stay awake, whilest next to me you dream,
I feel like I'm protecting you and that's how it's always been.
But maybe I'll be honest and not lie next time you ask.
'Cause maybe then you'll be the only who takes off my mask.
