He could taste victory as he inhaled the scent of defeat. He heard the sound of concussion when he saw the bamboo strike the creature's head. It never had a chance. Even without the staff, he was more than a match for the ageing giant panda. But why should he take the chance? His intelligence set him above the panda, and soon it would set him beyond the reach of humans. He was better. He would prove it. The pointed tip sliced open the old bear's innards, every drop of blood dripped with the sound of satisfaction, the aim of every duel.
