Living The Dream - Sukshinder Shinda
Many artists are given different tags lines during their careers. Some more justified than others. If there ever was on artist who deserves his tags, it’s ‘The Music Man’, ‘The Musician’s Musician’…Sukshinder Shinda!.
If an album title ever fitted the artist, this is the one. Sukshinder Shinda really is Living The Dream and he has not changed who he is, what he does and what he believes in musically, which is why he has transcended to another level in the eyes of his peers and the public
Having been blessed and lucky enough to be born into the world of Bhangra, I have always known about Shinda. He was every senior artist’s favourite musician and the one kid they held in the highest regard. He was the percussionist who everyone rated, the harmonium player who everyone wanted to be like and everyone seemed to respect him more than any of the other musicians of his generation. Come 2007 and he’s still appreciated and loved by the old skool and new skool acts but now he’s loved by Bhangra fans around the world. There are so many great music people in our industry, but for some reason Shinda just stands head and shoulders above everyone. I've often thought to myself ‘What is it about Shinda Phaaji that just makes him so different’?
Sukshinder Shinda has been gifted with extraordinary talents as a musician and as a human being and at every stage of his life, he has always given he all to music. The musical company he kept while growing up were the best he could have had. Maybe not the most popular, or the most obviously recognisable, but his time with Ashoka Group set the trail that Shinda is blazing today. They, along with his teachers Kuldip Matharu, Ustad Lal Singh Bhatti & Ustad Ajit Singh Mutlashi taught Shinda how to respect the art of music, how to respect the industry and how to respect his peers. Shinda has taken those teaching and evolved into the model professional and idol.
The most unique thing about Sukshinder Shinda is the amount and level of respect and appreciation he gives to everyone. It’s simply incredible! I have been around industry people who are usually very confident but become nervous when they meet Shinda. Even though he is the nicest guy who would never turn anyone away, you can’t help but be in awe of him. That’s not fear, that’s respect. Every time iv met Shinda or seen him around anyone, he takes time out to genuinely talk to everyone, nothing put on for the sake of it. He pays respect to everyone. Every Ustad, every senior artist and most importantly every junior artist he feels is promoting and preserving our music. That's one of the key reasons that he's where he is today. He doesn’t see himself as a star, but just like everyone else….that’s why he is that star he is today.
In my eyes, if success could be given to anyone, it would be given to Sukshinder Shinda hands down. Success, however, is earned, grafted for, paid dues for…and because of that, Sukshinder Shinda deserves every accolade that’s given too him today. From life as a 9 years old roadie, riding the buses just be learn music to now becoming an international ambassador for Punjabi music, Sukshinder Shinda will only achieve many more great things during his career. He is musical genius, a global British born Punjabi superstar and I will go as far as to say, a legend in the making.

A very well written Blog Dipps! You've got it bang on that Sukshinder Shinda is a living legend and we should all be proud that we have such a talented percusionist, producer, singer and performer on the bhangra scene and i'm sure he will continue to do what he does for many years to come. Shinda's new album is looking to be yet another hit. I've read on Chakdey that it should be releasing on the 13th of july so can't wait to grab the new album. Respect!

i think this all is a little over board. Shinda is a great music producer and singer but International Ambassdor?? Panjabi Superstar?? Calm down I always thought that would be Gurdass Maan!! lol
I think the guy deserves recognition but this blog seems a little bit OTT!

This blog is not OTT...obviously the people that think this have no clue of the industry and the people in it! Sukshinder Shinda is highly regarded as the number1 off all music producers in the world....ask kuldip manak or gurdass mann....they'l tell u the same! How many artists do u know that have done music for the great man gurdas mann let alone sing alongside him on a full track, which 'coincidentally' was arguably one of the best tracks of last year. His vocal talents are immense...He's only done 3 solo albums to date....and the vocal performance is extremely distinctive! Ppl like jassi sidhu, dalvinder singh etc...and half the jokers from india don't stand a chance. Watch shinda live and u can hear the massive vocal range he has! As a person involved in the industry like dipps bhamra i have see that this man is truly humble....the same cant be said for many of the untalented artists out there. Only 2producers on this planet come near him...aman hayer and kam frantic....and there a long way off...yet! I refer you back to gurdas mann.....if he agrees to sing on your album then u gotta be a star!!

I have read all the above and I must say Gugzy does not have a clue about singing if that’s what he thinks of Shinda Singing!!!! Shinda is UK best born singer and music producer, and half the people that put him down would love to do a collaboration with him and that’s a fact or even have a chance to stand next to him!!!!!!! Sukshinder Shinda makes the Bhangra Industry turn END off!!! And people don’t be jealous Be happy Listen to MELA and get some Sense!!!!

This write up is OTT, shinda is juat another artist, on par with many others, to say he is a legend is simply not true and you are indoctrinating the masses forcibly using this medium. Legends are artistes such as Gurdas Maan, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Shinda is a very good artist and a good musician to praise him like god by a radio presenter frankly is nauseating.
Dipps grew up idolising Shinda, he states in his write up, this distinctly highlights he has a bias view and the write up reflects this..there are many other artistes on par with the likes of shinda. So please stop making it out that Shinda is the greatest artist ever!! It simply won't wash!! And it is not good for the 主播大秀 radio presenter to do the write up to someone he obviously adores and wishes that he was like him. If someone was going to do a write up on Shinda it should have been someone independent and not associated with the Asiannetwork!!

Well you either love him or you don't and this is the forum to air your views. I can see what everyone is saying and I take on board everyone's comments.
There is one thing that I would like to say is that there seem to be a bit of confusion about what I said or what people have perceived that I have said. I don't think anywhere I have said that Sukshinder Shinda is a Legend! I don't like branding that term around and Shinda isn't one in terms of Punjabi music at this moment in time. However, if you read carefully, I did say that
'...I will go as far as to say, a legend in the making'
Yes I admire the man and appreciate what he is doing on a musical level, but I don't think or have said that he IS a legend. The way his career, his music and popularity seems to be growing, there is a strong possibility that he will be regarded as one of the best in out industry.
In this moment in time its a matter of opinion and no one's views are ever right or wrong. That's why its great to get people views...so keep them coming!

nice blog... ive met shinda so many times hes come to my house aswell as we had a a wedding thing ... not to sing he was the brides chacha ... and was acting as the dad of the wedding!! i agree with every word u sed. i dont fink it is ott hes just telling ya his opinions...
