Oh yes, the festival season continues!!!

You can probably tell I love them. So far, we’ve had Wychwood, Paradise Gardens and Glastonbury. This weekend myself, Nerm and Sonny Ji head to one of my favourite festivals, WOMAD!!

WOMAD stands for ‘World of Music, Arts and Dance’ the festival features an inspiring mix of ancient and modern, where centuries-old traditional music might easily sit side-by-side with the latest club sounds. Since 1982, WOMAD has presented more than 150 festivals around the world and this weekend will be it’s 25th Anniversary and to celebrate this, WOMAD have moved from the Rivermead Centre in Reading to the glorious countryside of Wiltshire. Each festival over the years has introduced a rich variety of artists from many countries, some world famous, others virtually unknown outside their own locality.

For the 2nd year, 主播大秀 Asian Network has a presence at WOMAD where collectively we’ll be spreading our musical gospel, introducing and delighting the masses. It’s predicted to have an attendance of 20,000 so we’re all very confident a few more people will become aware and hooked to the 主播大秀 Asian Network and the listening family will grow.

WOMAD over the last 3 decades has presented literally thousands of artists’ music from around the globe and this weekend I’m looking forward to experiencing the sounds of Balkan Beat Box, DJ Shantel, , El Tanbura, Mari Boine, Shelia Chandra, Baaba Maal, Peter Gabriel the founder of WOMAD and many more.

I hope to meet and interview a few artists too, whose music has been getting constant plays in the car, at home and even play listed on the show, for a WOMAD special the following weekend.

Fingers and toes crossed the weather will be fine and even if it does rain, it’s not a MUDDY affair like GLASTONBURYand all of us with the 主播大秀 Asian Network Station Wagon, create some serious musical mayhem and show how we do it....

Sounds like it's going to be a SWEET ride Pathaan! ENJOY yourself, entertain the people (it comes to you naturally!) and bring back snapshots from WOMAD for people who can't make it there personally.

THANKS for your hard word at making the Pathaan Musical Rickshaw an entertaining and informative show! It's a distinction your show has earned largely due to your efforts to bring in the public eye, several budding and even estabished musicians, who need a platform from where they can reach millions of people.
    KEEP IT UP!

Have an awesome weekend at WOMAD Charlton Park! And happy 25th anniversary WOMAD! Wished you were coming down to spin at WOMAD Singapore as well next month which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Looks like we'll be having Sheila Chandra and Bobby Friction & Nihal reprazentin tha 主播大秀 Asian Network crew as well. We won't have Baaba Maal, but I can't complain--saw him and his band at Festival Essaouira Gnaoua in Morocco this year along with ADF (who are also coming to Singapore).

Pathaan's Musical Rickshaw is the best 3-hour musical trip round the globe on the 主播大秀 Asian Network airwaves and at festivals!

Passing through the rivers of sticky mud, which was a surreal experience, sometimes half expecting crocodiles to come sliding out, and cases of trench foot to break out, Womad was certainly never dull, and was often hilarious, amongst may other treasured moments for me was passing the Asian Net Work Tent and listen to Nerm's set blasting out of a little tent and people dancing away in what now looked like a stall at a cattle auction, up to their knees almost in mud. people stopping on the way past to listen.

Was a brilliant set - really inspiring and origional and the visual image was great the back ground and the little hut/booth... yeah was great def one of the highlights of my weekend, respects BPM
