After Reading and Leeds...

Huw Stephens Huw Stephens | 21:50 UK time, Wednesday, 29 August 2007

I had a blast at Reading, a lot of fun and watching some incredible bands. Looking forward to '08 already! Check out my video blogs from the weekend HERE. Was good to meet Pete and the Pirates at Reading, they opened up the new band stage there and are chatting on this weeks show about the scene in Reading. Also I'm joined by Linda Serck who does a show on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Berkshire, championing new bands from the area.
Got to see very exciting new band play this week in London town - very good and promising. They're on this weeks show, as are The Answering Machine, in session recorded at Maida Vale. They're a young band with loads of promise, having released tracks on High Voltage. Right, enough ranting - more listening!

Live music extravaganza-za-za-za-za!

Huw Stephens Huw Stephens | 12:45 UK time, Wednesday, 22 August 2007

This weeks show features live highlighst from this years that happpened on the weekend. Apart form the mud it was FANTASTIC with new and familiar bands playing - highlights for me were Malcolm Middleton, Euros Childs, Dead Meadow, Battles, Vashti Bunyan, Emmy the Great, Bill Callahan, Gentle Good - ooh and loads more! So do check out the show for some live tracks, and also Rob da Bank on Sunday and me and Beth Elfyn on Radio 1 Wales on Thursday night...

Last week on the show Rory McConnel from R1 Northen Ireland was on talking about the Vital 07 fest that's on in Belfast this week - check his show on Thursday for live tracks from there...

This coming weekend I'll be at Reading, compering the main stage and seeing as many bands as possible. The line-up is fantastic. There's an hour long documentary on Jo Whiley's In Live Music We Trust tonight from 9pm to get you warmed up.

Also tonight it's the first ever Huw Stephens Introducing....at the Social. On Little Portland St in London, just off Oxford St, with Nic Dawson Kelly, Viva Machine and Sunset Cinema Club. Night starts at 7pm, Nic is on at 8pm, costs 4quid to get in. The night will be on the third Wednesday of every month, and feature bands I want to see live and ones we play on the show!

Green Mannerisms...

Huw Stephens Huw Stephens | 00:43 UK time, Thursday, 16 August 2007

If you're going to Green Man Festival this weekend, I might well see you there - can't wait for a weekend of ace new bands and folkey dokey artists of all sorts. The Green Man is a special festival, almost like a secret congregation of folk-heads, and always offers something interesting. I saw Joanna Newsom paly there for the first time, and as the fest grows it offers more and more off-kilter artists. You can hear live highlights on Rob da Banks show on Sunday night, on Beth and Huw on Radio 1 Wales next Thursday and on my show next Wednesday too. Sweeeet!

My Psychoanalyst!

Huw Stephens Huw Stephens | 01:03 UK time, Wednesday, 15 August 2007

The Derby band My Psychonalyst are in session this week - expect storming guitar tunes and a whole lotta riffage. We'll also be looking forward to the Green Man Festival that's hapning this weekend with a load of established and emerging bands and artists playing oer the weeknd. Got new d'n'b to play you too, and another track from Emmy the Great who was great when I went to see her playing earlier on tonight. She has this incredible voice - pure and honest and guaranteed to melt your heart.
We welcome back Louise the producer too - welcome back Lou!
