Marcus Oxley

Executive Director, Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), Marcus Oxley is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), which was established in May 2007. Previously Disaster Management Director at Tearfund, Marcus has over twenty five years' operational experience across all stages of the disaster risk management cycle, from preparedness and response through to recovery and mitigation. Marcus is a strong advocate of championing the role of civil society and affected populations as key development actors in reducing disaster risk and strengthening the resilience of nations and communities. He is a member of the World Bank´s GFDRR advisory groups for Disaster Recovery; Climate Change; and Community Resilience, and a member of the OECD Expert Group on Risk and Resilience. Marcus has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's in Project Management.
