I'm surprised that she speaks a bit of English, after 8 years in captivity.
Unless of course she's been studying English after she escaped.

Danepak, is that really all you have to say about this case? Focus on the important issues, please.

We are clearly going to go off at a tangent with regard to an analysis/explanation about the abuse in Austria in order to avoid a far more extensive problem that we do not wish to face.

This kind of gender violent abuse of usually young girls is not unique to Austria and to try to link it with Germany's Nazi past is specious.

This kind of abuse is world wide, what has shocked us is the discovery that it took place in a nice middle class suburban area. If it had been discovered in Pakistan, it would not have been news worthy.

Natascha Kampusch the other victim of kidnap and abuse spoke on Newsnight last night, Wed. 30th Apr 08. The interviewer put a leading question to her in order to get the response that he wanted namely a link with Germany's past. Her answer was that this is happening everywhere not just in Austria. However, she did make an effort to respond to the link he so obviously wanted to make i.e. the link with Germany's Nazi past, but her answer was not the one he expected, she made a different link one that German socialism may have lead to its detrimental affect on females. However she still emphasised the fact that is is not unique to Austria.

In the closing clip on Newsnight this crucial point she made was cut. Listen again to the interview and then the closing clip and note the cut.

Ms. Kampusch is giving a message about misogyny which she clearly states is not confined to Austria, and this is being obscured so that we do not have to face the full facts of the level of sexual abuse that patriarchy either condones or ignores world wide.

We can't try to pin this onto specific men, Nazi men for this kind of behaviour, the culprits are of a larger group, the culprits are MEN.

    BONKERS

'Obviously', Josef Fritzl, being 10 years of age at the end of WWII, and having allegedly threatened to gas his cellar occupants (according to The Times), was 'clearly' corrupted by National Socialism in much the same way that the recent epidemic of youth suicides in Wales was 'obviously' the result of delayed depression following the end of the coal export boom from Cardiff back in the 1930s.
