Congratulations to Gordon and Sarah, but with the list of Lib Dem leadership contenders reading like a veritable "Who's He?" of British politics and the current vogue for youthful, energetic party leaders with wide appeal, perhaps it's time for the Lib Dems to tweak their constitution so as to allow young Donald Kennedy a chance at the top job?

Many high profile Labour politicians love to talk the talk about the quality of services provided by the state, but not many walk the walk. From Tony Blair to Diane Abbott the treatment of their own children seems to be at odds with their "deeply held" political beliefs, apparently without compromise.
However, Gordon is a true socialist so I am absolutely convinced that his wife will be checking into a normal NHS hospital ward, like the rest of us. No private rooms and special treatment for her, Gordon is a man of the people and he will insist that if it's good enough for his constituents it's good enough for him!
Too few senior politicians have been prepared to expose themselves to the services that they espouse - it's left to Gordon to set an example.
