We all now know that accessing inappropriate websites can damage your career but did you know that also includes this site - at least that is if you're a government minister?
No names, no packdrill, but one of Whitehall's finest told me that when he tried to read my latest offering he was greeted with the warning "You have repeatedly tried to access an inappropriate site - this has been noted and logged".
You have been warned.

You should ask where the Minister in question was trying to access your blog from.
From what us other political bloggers have been able to find out, there are few but the obvious (porn) restrictions on access from Parliamentary buildings, like Portcullis House, but access from within Ministries is rather more restricted.
One Ministry that has been fingered for blocking access to blogs is the DCA, which rather got up people's noses as this was discovered around the time that the post-election debate on electoral reform was peaking on UK political blogs.
Presumably the Minister involved told you this face to face rather than by telephone. Can't imagine they'd risk using a phone at Westminster to pass on this sort of information these days. You never know who might be listening.
(In an attempt at maintaining impartiality, I should perhaps mention that the government have not yet changed the rules on tapping MPs phones.)
A while ago a relative of mine worked as a Parliamentary Assistant, and we had endless fun working out what was blocked by the Parliament email filter. It was virtually impossible to discuss the Sex Offences Bill (as was then) with your MP; you could not refer to 'magna cum laude'; and pity Hilary Butts, MP. It was really quite bizarre. As a geek, I ponder that they've just bought a subscription to a service which blocks some blogs - but shouldn't Parliament have unhindered access to everything? Beggars belief, really.
What can I say? Welcome to the world of the subversive! I'm looking forward to you doing a blog on the possible forthcoming showdown between the Lords and the Commons over the Terror Laws.
