Are you guys going to take a look at two Americans who just spoke out against the conventional wisdom that Saddam Hussein had no links to al Qaeda?

Their interviews are here and you guys really ought to take a look at this to give ALL perspective on Iraq, not just the antiwar ones

Just a thought. A few days ago, I found my newsletter in my Spam Bin. Might be worth looking.

-Could a PM calendar be made -a collage possibly, using as many of the photos as possible.

I'm sure it would sell and would be a lot nicer than those egg cups on sale last year from the 'Today' team.

Thanks, RJ. In fact, I always look through the spam folder on the server before I delete anything. The PM newsletter has never been directed there by my provider, but I would only need to approve it once if it was. No, I want the Ö÷²¥´óÐã to be clear that the problem is at their end...

But I did finally hear the eddies of Tone Mair this evening. Or do I mean the tones of Eddie......

I haven't had my newsletter AT ALL this week. Last week they always came in during the night but this week I am obviously persona non grata with the newsletter sender.

What have I done to deserve this?Whatever it is, I'm probably sorry for it.

Still can't see my photos on the website but I'm not that bothered really.
On a serious note isn't it about time we decriminalised prostitution & drugs.
I know there would still be some prostitutes & drug addicts on the streets but if we had state approved brothels, subject to appropriate security & gave drug addicts/users a controlled source of class a drugs we would reduce crime by a significant amount & free up the police/other organs of the state to deal with serious crime such as rape, child abuse & financial misnonemours.
What really is the point in putting resources into prosecuting people who are more than often the victims of the way we live today rather than the people who are really benefitting from criminal activity ie drug dealers. pimps, some of the business community & crime organisations.
I might not approve of prostitution, drug dependency & a lot of other things ie abortion but they are all facts of life & if people need them for what ever reason it would be better to regulate them rather than allow criminal elements to profit from exploiting the vunerable in our society.
Glad to get that off my chest!
I can now return to my safe middle class rural life secure in the knowledge that I am highly unlikely to be confronted by prostitutes or drug addicts.
Although having said that I could I am reliably informed go into the village & get class c drugs & by driving 10 miles get somewhere I could find a prostitute.
Probably if I wasn't so old I could find the same or better services more locally.
Perhaps I should add that I haven't always lived/worked in a rural location. For many years I worked/lived in inner city areas in Leicester, Nottingham, Liverpool & South London & have experienced the effects of drugs addiction, prostitution, & gang warfare.
Perhaps it's about time our politicans woke up to reality & actually addressed the problems of our society before trying to impose solutions on others. Iraq springs to mind but I don't want to go there other than to say if Gorge & Tony had studied & understood the lessons from history ie the English Civil War they wouldn't have been surprised by what is happening today.
    Regards
    Ron

ron, I think you should come to the beach. See the sign post on the right hand side of the page.

You need to relax with us.

I think I agree and sympathise with your views and have just posted similar elsewhere.

Eddie can we have a thread where we can share our views, horror, and anger regarding the Ipswich murders. It seems to me that a lot of peole on this blog really want to say something and share something about this dreadful situation, yet our comments are shattered amonst many threads the titles of which would not automatically suggest a space for them.

PM has brought us some of the most sensitive and informative reporting IMO of the many programmes and I get the impression that PM listeners would like a space to put our thoughts together, including the sympathy we have for the family and friends of the victims and those women out there whose lives are now even more frightening than ever.

    Mark (8),

So, where is the post-invasion evidence? Did they go and 'take out' the alleged chemical works on the Iranian border? Have they found any sign of chemical weapons? Do you think we wouldn't have had any siuch evidence, no matter how slight or otherwise, paraded before us by now?

I read the articles and they didn't impress me too much, nor the site, for that matter. Not a lot to build a case on.

I reckon Saddam had contacts with al Quaida, but less well-developed than did the CIA and the Bush family and loads of other 'interested' parties.

Good idea in principle, but see what happened to the Iraq thread that Eddie set up. It's become long and elderly (ooh, a bit like me) and generallly ignored (a lot like me), with odd bits now popping up elsewhere, as in this thread.

We did have some thoughts on drugs before this ghastly tragedy in Ipswich, but they too are buried in among old threads.

    Morning Eddie,

I've been thinking about the recent speech delivered by General Sir Mike Jackson. I thought he provided a powerful reminder of the negligence and incompetence of this Government.

Not so long ago, our Army was regarded as one of the most respected military forces in the world.

Now it is clear that it has been systematically underfunded by this administration until it barely has the equipment or manpower to defend itself in the conflicts that our warmongering politicians have become embroiled in.

Once upon a time, we had a private pensions system that was the envy of the world. In a few short years, it has been so ravaged by taxation that only public servants and politicians can confidently expect to retire with a decent income.

In years gone by, we had control of our borders and today nobody in the Government seems to know or care what the level of immigration has been or what it will be in future.

The standards in our education system have been downgraded to give the appearance of higher pass rates while literacy and numeracy are not competitive with those of developing nations. Our young people are now alleged to be among the most yobbish in Europe. Our transport system is one of the most congested in the world and is not fit for purpose.

The Government does not have a clue how to put it right. Its only response is to tax the motorist. While politicians preside over abject failure, taxation and debt have risen greatly, bequeathing huge problems to future generations. It's no wonder 'Brits' are fleeing the country in droves - is it?

Sorry I could not contribute - I was in rehearsal for the Staff Pantomime at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College! We are doing a show called "Snow White and the Seven Other Dwarves" which involves an X-Factor style talent show to find new dwarves as the existing lot have gone off to form a boy band... I play the show host, very scary as I've never been on stage before.
