Coming up...
- Football: The Football League Show / Final Score
Kicking off this month, Championship football returns to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã with ten
live games to be screened over the course of the 2009/10 season. These matches
will also be streamed live on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã website (for UK users only), as will
all the goals from every game in the Football League, the League Cup and
Football League Trophy.
Additionally, each Saturday morning viewers can join Manish Bhasin,
ex-player Steve Claridge and Radio 5Live favourite Mark Clemmit for all
the goals, round-up and debate on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One in The Football League Show
which will then be made available following Match of the Day on Ö÷²¥´óÐã
Red Button until noon the next day.
Meanwhile, Gabby Logan will be taking the helm of Final Score. Join
her and guests to keep up to date with all the goals as they go in from
2.30pm each Saturday.

- Football: Champions League Qualifier
Red Button joins Ö÷²¥´óÐã Scotland for live coverage of the Champions League
clash between Dinamo Moscow and Celtic, with Celtic aiming to overturn a
1-0 defecit from the first leg.

- Cricket: The Ashes*
Results so far have been anything but predictable, with England forcing
a draw against the odds in Cardiff and breaking their 75-year hoodoo against
Australia at Lord's.
Ö÷²¥´óÐã Red Button will be on hand for the remainder of this smouldering series
with scorecards and statistics supplementing live commentary from the Test
Match Special team led by Jonathan Agnew.

- Rugby League: The Super League Show / Rugby League Forum*
The Super League Show offers viewers another chance to catch up with
the weekend's Rugby League action, while following the the Rugby League
Challenge Cup semi-final between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves press
red for post-match analysis, round up and debate in the Rugby League Forum.

One of the many pleasurable tasks I have to undertake is to promote the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Red Button service, and sometimes this means talking to journalists based overseas.
It is always a challenge to ensure that they understand the breadth of coverage and number of viewers using the service seeing as often there is no comparable service in their own country.
One such interview was with Tracy Swedlow of . Tracy has covered interactive TV for many years and her newsletter is read by people working in the industry, across the world.

Greetings! We did our first Maestro Cam Prom on Saturday. It was great fun. Maestro Cam is a new red button delight, which we're trying for five TV Proms this year.
You can press red to watch a close up camera on the conductor during the Prom. There are two audio options: Music + Comment, or Music Only. Live commentary is from a conducting mentor from Ö÷²¥´óÐã2's 2008 Maestro TV series. The gregarious Matthew Rowe is doing our first two dates, with Peter Stark and Jason Lai joining later in August. They'll be commentating on conductors Vasily Petrenko, Ilan Volkov, Daniel Barenboim and David Robertson. There's also the option to watch the main Prom TV coverage under the red button, if you fancy just the multi-camera action.
On Friday we practised at the Royal Albert Hall during the main Prom's camera rehearsal. It was one of those times when I thought "I'm getting paid to do this - this is ridiculous!" because it was so enjoyable. Graeme Kay from Proms interactive and I offered some editorial suggestions to Matthew Rowe - though we both thought Matthew had pitched it just right. We want Maestro Cam to appeal both to people who know nothing about music, and to those who do.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms 2009: Maestro Cam
For the 2009 Proms season Ö÷²¥´óÐã Red Button is introducing
a brand new feature: 'Maestro Cam'.
Over the course of five concerts the service will give digital viewers a
unique insight into the art of conducting. A dedicated camera will capture the conductor's every intonation and flourish while the mentors from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Two's Maestro series - Matthew Rowe, Peter Stark and Jason Lai - provide commentary discussing the gestures and the orchestra's response.
Among the conductors involved in this project are Daniel Barenboim, Vasily
Petrenko and Ilan Volkov.

With the roar of the Centre Court crowd still ringing in Roger Federer's ears we thought it would be a good time to take stock of this year's Wimbledon.
In the ten years since we developed our first prototype, Red Button Wimbledon has gone on to become one of our most popular services beaten only by coverage of the Olympics. Here for the first time we take a look at the science behind the scenes to show you how the action gets from the courts of SW19 to your set top box.

While the sun shone, "The Boss" rocked and the crowds cheered at this year's Glastonbury festival a small group of people were hard at work many miles away from the mud and music in a couple of small rooms in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's Television Centre in White City. It was here that the hub of Ö÷²¥´óÐã's Red Button Glastonbury service was situated.
I found myself working in Playout Gallery TC 8 over the Friday and Sunday nights managing the Red Button back end systems, and thought I would provide a little insight into how the behind the scenes action takes place for a huge event in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's calendar like Glastonbury.
For those who have never been in a Playout Gallery I will attempt to describe it: a couple of smallish rooms with one wall completely dominated by TV monitors all of which display the various incoming and outgoing feeds. Imposing sound desks and PC and laptop computers complete the setup all of which is usually mood lit so it feels like you are sitting in a New York nightclub. In fact why describe it when I can show it!

T in the Park 2009
With tickets for last year's festival selling
out in hours, anticipation for TitP 2009 couldn't be higher. Confirmed for
the event at Balado, near Kinross are Blur, The Killers, Kings of Leon,
Nick Cave, Ting Tings, Lily Allen, The Specials, Franz Ferdinand, Calvin
Harris, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow, James, and Nine Inch Nails and for
the fourth year running Ö÷²¥´óÐã Red Button will be there to showcase the best
of the lot.
On the weekend itself, Freeview viewers will have a choice of up to 3 streams
featuring highlights from the headliners, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Acoustic / Collaborations
stage and Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three's coverage while an additional stream for Sky and Virgin
viewers will take an alternative slant on the festival, highlighting up
and coming acts and extended sets from more established artists.
And festival-goers will have barely had time to hose themselves down before
Red Button returns on the Monday with a week full of the very best moments
and most talked about performances from Balado.
