What Shall We Call Sam?

Treble T | 17:12 UK time, Tuesday, 29 September 2009

sampic1.jpg

People we need your help. Our online dude that helps us out with the blog is also an insane gamer like us, (except he's obsessed with Madden 09!?! ). Now we have cool DJ names like Treble T and Mike Anthony, he's called, wait for it ..... Sam.

Now I'm not knocking it, great name for every day usage, but not on this prestigious blog! He can't write any posts until he's got a good cool name so help us out with some suggestions please. We've already had "Online Sam", "Sam da man", "Hairy Sam" and "Wild Sam of the hills" (Check the pic... nuff said! By the way we forced him to do that pose - sorry Sam!). None of which are really the one.

We need some inspiration, so leave a comment for a cool name suggestion for Sam, and if we're impressed we might just go with it. Otherwise he might go on strike and stop looking after our website and that just won't do!

Holla.

Halo 3 ODST Review

Mike Anthony | 12:29 UK time, Friday, 25 September 2009

halo3.jpg

NO Master Chief? OH NO! ODSTs or "Orbital Drop Shock Troopers" is the new flex on the brand new Halo. You drop into the ruined city of New Mombasa, looking for clues behind the Covenant's attack on the city. The city is proper mash up! "Where the hell is my crew" you ask?

The new campaign kicks off pre "Halo 3" So at first glance I'm looking for something different......and didn't get it!

U Takeover and Rampage play Pro Evo 10

Mike Anthony | 12:04 UK time, Friday, 25 September 2009

proevo2.jpg

Our buddies Fitz and Justin from U Takeover thought they had what it takes to take down me and T at Pro Evo 10. My Pro Evo game is heavy, yet T isn't as strong. Fitz wrote a review of the game. Check it out below.

Manchester was representing in the building with Rampage, I was sitting in the studio for the U Takeover project, myself Fitz and partner Justin when we had heard Rampage were reviewing PES 2010!!!!.

A new demo of the game before its out, do Rampage really call this work?? So you know I had to get involved and hold it down for the city! United vs Liverpool, (ie. U Takeover crew vs Rampage, you know considering the standard Pro 2009 set, Pro 10 had a lot to live up to.

DJ Star Review - Guest Reviewer: DJ Semtex

Producer Woman | 15:58 UK time, Tuesday, 22 September 2009

djstar.jpg
Easy its DJ Semtex here, now as well as playing the biggest, sickest hip hop joints on the station, I also enjoy gaming, (My console game is strong, I've got all of them!). So when Rampage asked me if I wanted review the game DJ Star for them I was involved!!

Now the art of deejaying is a craft, it requires dedication, passion for music, the ability to comunicate with a crowd. To be a super star DJ, you've got to bring even more to the table. It isn't an experience that you can buy on a cartridge for £17.83. (thats the cheapest I found it for after hunting on the net).

Timbaland's Beaterator preview

Treble T | 18:30 UK time, Thursday, 17 September 2009

beaterator.jpgSo we've had an exclusive play around (or test if the boss is reading this!) With the latest piece of software from Rockstar games (Grand Theft). Its called and its only for the Sony PSP and iphone/itouch.
Now I need to stress this is not a game, its a music making application and I believe the first of its kind!

The world famous super producer Timbaland is chief consultant and contributer for this software and he pops up all over it making his silly beat box noises.
He also contributed thousands of drum/music sounds and loops plus loads from the Rockstar studios. In Timbalands own words you dont need anything else bar a PSP and him to make a beat.

Pro Evo or Fifa : Who do you support?

Mike Anthony | 17:47 UK time, Wednesday, 16 September 2009

fipevo.jpg
Konami Digital Entertainment today announced it is to release a playable demo of its eagerly-awaited PES 2010 tomorrow. WOOP WOOP! Now a free download will be available to PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC users, and showcases the full game's exhibition mode.

You can select from Liverpool, or Barcelona, or the Spanish, Italian, French and German national sides which to be honest is not bad for a demo. The selected sides can then be played against the CPU or a friend in a five-minute match. Just a quick reminder PES 2010 is released for Playtstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD on October 23rd, lets see if enough has been done in the new edition for the die hard PES fans.

So here's what I want you guys to download the demos for and and then leave your comments here and let me know which ones best.

Radio 1's Vernon Kay reviews Dirt 2

Treble T | 17:20 UK time, Friday, 11 September 2009

vernon.jpgWassup gamers, due to the amount of games our hands have played over the past couple of weeks I've had to call for assistance from my mates at Radio 1.Mr Vernon Kay stepped in for me to have a look and play with Dirt 2 which is the continuation of the Colin Mcrae rally series.

Now I know Vernon's a bit partial to some racing games, he didn't do too bad on the Mario Kart leaderboard, which some of the presenters were playing as part our Gaming weekend back in May, I thought he'd be up for this. I've heard talk of Dirt 2 being one of the best racing games out there, but did Mr Kay think so? Hmmmm....

You've made a horrible mistake!

Mike Anthony | 10:44 UK time, Friday, 11 September 2009

rubbishgamemike.jpg

You save your hard earned money, you call in the I.O.U, you beg, borrow, do all the cleaning to get the DO$H for the game you've been waiting for. Excited and full of the joys of spring you run, jump on a train, bus, taxi, you even convince you best friend or mum and dad to buy it on the internet. You finally get the game in the palm of your hands and you can't get the wrapping off quick enough....... You even forget to eat because that's really not important anymore. It finally loads up...... game on!

Half an hour into the game you're like, "hold on these graphics aren't as good as I thought they'd be?". 10 minutes later ..."this story is kinda rubbish". 5 minutes later... "the A. I in the game is repetitive! Then the realisation creeps up on you, like Batman in Arkham Asylum. "I've just made a horrible mistake!"

Yep ....... you've bought a wasteman game! A pile of rubbish, doo doo (you get the picture). So I wanna know, what game was completely over hyped? What game did you waste your money on, and then had you sprinting to the nearest exchange shop? Come on people name and shame!!

Fifa10005.jpg

Today was a special day, we got wait for it ......an exclusive look and play with today. (Love my job sometimes!). Chris Moyles from Radio1 came up cos he's a big footy fan like us. A challenge was thrown down with the winner getting to keep the only copy in the country!!

Now they were gonna use the teams they actually support (Leeds and West Ham), but I said thats rubbish no goals would ever get scored so they decided to use Arsenal and Spurs, still rubbish but at least I've heard of em! So the battle commenced and Moyles didn't even have the right settings!!.

He done alright until half time then he fixed them and everything changed!
Listen to the audio if you wanna see who won....

Console price war

Mike Anthony | 12:17 UK time, Thursday, 3 September 2009

The price war has began leading up to Xmas. Now I know a lot of you have consoles already but would the price change make you want to buy another console? Or maybe you don't have a console....... which one do you want for Xmas?

Lets look at the facts:

xbox100.jpg has dropped in price to £199 but the normal Xbox has actually gone up? "Huh!" The Xbox has also been plagued with the cursed "ring of death" however it is undeniably the best on-line console out there.

ps100.jpgThe now slimmer and with built in Blu-ray has dropped to £250 and on-line game play is FREE........ but is seriously in need of some BIG titles.

wii100.jpgThe is still smashing it and apeals to all ages all genders and is the cheapest of the lot. It'll also get up off your backside and moving around your house. However the graphics are the biggest let down.

That's the facts.....so which appeals to you the most? Let us know.

Batman Arkham Asylum (Guest Reviewer: Ace)

Producer Woman | 18:19 UK time, Tuesday, 1 September 2009

Batmanaa1.jpg
Now I can't lie games that have come from comic book characters are usually pants. Them Spiderman games have been poor and that DC Universe vs Mortral Kombat had so much potential but was was dead! But....HOLY COW, THIS GAME IS SERIOUS!!

Everyone obviously knows who Batman is but you probably are not familiar with Arkham Asylum. Its actually the iconic psychiatric hospital, which is like Gotham City's Alcatraz, and home to every villain Batman has ever rumbled with at one time or another, and now thanks to a genius plan by Batman's Arch nemesis the Joker, all the villains are about to break out of the hospital.

As Batman, you not only get to go beat up and embarrass thugs by doing some impressive fighting combos, but you play with great gadgets, solve up to 240 riddles courtesy of the Riddler, and do a decent amount of detective work. This is definitely one of those games you want to play on your day when there's nothing that you could be late for cos its extremely addictive!!
