Inside Sport: the third run
We've come to the end of this run of so I wanted to respond to a few issues some bloggers have picked out and also look forward to the next season and ask for your input into how we take the show on.
Perhaps the issue that provoked most response online was Mihir Bose's piece on racism in Polish football. The responses to the blog he wrote were overwhelmingly positive and some people had some thought-provoking points to make.
Some bloggers asked why we picked on Poland when other countries in Europe have a similar problem - witness before the Uefa Cup final about how Zenit St Petersberg fans would not like him buying a black player.
But because Uefa has given , we wanted to examine the problem the Polish authorities must face to host the event.
One Polish blogger felt we had targeted when some other clubs were even worse. The anti-racism campaigner in our film did make that point, but we chose Legia because they acknowledged they had a problem and were taking steps to deal with it.
As we take the programme forward, I would like to know if you think we should be looking more at "issues" within sport and doing pieces on them, or do you feel that might be a bit hard going late at night?
The perennial issue of covering a wide range of sports also came up on the blog.
Again in this run, we have covered a wide range of sports - , , , , , , , , , , , , swimming and is the full list. But if you are an occasional viewer, you are going to miss some of these, so I can only ask you to watch more often!
I am absolutely committed though to keeping a wide range of sports on the programme. Are there some you would particularly like to see more or less of in the next run and why?
As ever, the centrepieces of the programme are the big interviews done by - are there names you would like her to meet for the next series?
And finally, I would like to explore ways of making the programme more interactive and involving the viewers on a more regular basis - is that something you would like to see and if so, how do you think viewers should be involved?
Traditional ways are:
1. Having an audience (which I think we could do for one-off specials if a hot enough topic was suggested...)
2. Reading out
3. Showing viewers' videos
Are these things we should be doing on Inside Sport? Is it something we should do on our website but not the TV programme? Are there other ways of being more interactive?
I have my own thoughts but I would appreciate yours on all of these subjects over the summer. I'll be back working on the show from mid-August and Inside Sport is back on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One, Monday 6 October.
