(Fanstastic indie hip-hop from the frozen tundra of Canada) - can't argue with that. oldskool rhyming over fresh contemporary beats.

Weird acoustic oddball noodling from Pennsylvania.

A kind of collision between the B-52s and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs who've been lighting up 6 Music's radar since 2004 with 4 minor UK hits. Huge fun, if you don't know them.
SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN - Burnie Is Coming
good, but a bit selfconsciously odd & lo-fi
THE MAE SHI - Run To Your Grave
great tune, really fresh: Devo-ish foursquare beats w. farfisa organ.
BLACK MOUNTAIN - Stormy High
(huge slightly proggy riff tastic but with a sense of beauty)
DÄLEK - Eyes To Form Shadows
(Dark Hip-hop poetic and harsh) over appealingly industrial-grade noise.
DEER TICK - Song Of Samuel
(Singer songwriter, americana) 21 yr old John McCauley. Harsh vocal stylist over sweet guitar backing - good contrast
HERMAN DUNE - I Wish I Could See You Soon
(Catchy blues/folk, sense of fun and self deprecation). Is there such a genre as anti-country? This would be it.

(Ghostly drones and very dark) Hoarse metal riffing
PISSED JEANS - Ashamed Of My Cum
(Proper angry scuzzy heavy punk). Great MySpace profile too - no friends, no pictures, no info, no comments. And 29,000 plays

And no, I don't particularly like or wish to promote Mr Murdoch's MySpace.
But on the other hand MySpace pages are a uniquely useful leveller when comparing artists, because these days everybody's got one.
