Who is more electable?

Justin Webb | 21:42 UK time, Thursday, 24 April 2008

You do not, of course, have to trust the commentators - still less the campaign teams - when it comes to the electibility issue.

has a tool (in the middle at the top) to do your own match-up of Hillary and Barack against John McCain.

I see, for instance, that Pennsylvania and Ohio are in play if Barack gets the nod but safer if Hillary does. She could win New Mexico as well whereas he would not.

On the other hand, Barack would have a chance of taking Colorado and she would probably not.

Of course it is ludicrously early to be making these judgements - though that is what the superdelegates are going to have to do
