The post mortems are way too early (I agree McCain will lose the popular vote but he can certainly still win the electoral college) but still fascinating and this in particular suggests that the weekend will bring some revelations about the Bloomberg? The party would have rebelled.
This meanwhile from Politico might shed some light on a psychological blow represented by the Powell endorsement:

Favorite living hero. 'Colin Powell,' McCain says instantly. 'Served his country. A wonderful man.'"
